Our Philosophy

Philosophy & Mission

Experiential • Differentiated • Project-Based • Intentional

Our philosophy is rooted in the idea of building a community and bringing the concept of a ‘village’ back to life, so kids and their families can feel the closeness of being connected to others, to nature and to the world around them.

Pulling from our combined experiences as teachers and educators, our aim is to provide space for kids to learn, grow, and allow their curiosity to lead the learning. We embrace a variety of learning styles and then blend those together to make it our own.

Children and families who join our community, have a sense of like mindedness. We all recognize that if we teach kids that everything they need is right here, they will grow into confident, curious and self-sufficient children. Our educational approach, rooted in experience and evidence, focuses on bringing out curiosity, critical thinking and creative capacities for each child, in an individual capacity that we hope will serve them in the rapidly changing world.

“For me, it’s about getting back to basics and living the ‘village’ lifestyle, when everyone knew each other, when we lived next to, or with our families, where everyone worked together. We are looking to create a place where children and their families can feel part of the shared experience lifestyle. I truly believe that we’ve gotten so far away from that, and it’s what anchors us and brings us back to our roots, and it’s what keeps us connected in a meaningful way” -Tia

Emergent Education

Kids are learning about the earth, animals, growing vegetables, flowers, the seasons, lifecycles, landforms, weather and much more. They are exposed to real life, practical skills and learning about math and science through everyday activities, chores and life skills. This develops confidence, helping them learn how to plan and organize their days. The emergent learning program is fluid, flexible and adaptable and while goals and standards are set, they too emerge, for an individualized approach that is child led, and gives kids choices.
